Summary

The Field Service Technician, Automation will install, commission, maintain, and repair Ranpak Automation equipment at various customer locations, maximizing machine uptime and customer satisfaction. Support other administrative duties within the Service and Parts department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Complete work according to the service work order.
  • Support the Ranpak Tech Support Hotline when necessary.
  • Prioritize working safely at all times and adhere to customer requirements.
  • Write detailed and accurate field service reports.
  • Submit field service reports and expenses in a timely manner.
  • Maintain communication with customers and Ranpak personnel regarding job progress.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with various customers.
  • Keep tools and equipment, such as the service van, in good condition.
  • Ensure a clean and tidy work environment when leaving the customer’s location.
  • Contribute to a professional and profitable service organization.

Qualifications

  • Formal electrical/mechanical training from a university or technical school, or 4 years’ experience in industrial automation maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to travel within North America on short notice; 50-70% travel expected.
  • Strong mechanical/electronic skills to analyze and resolve complex machinery problems.
  • Ability to work with PLCs from different vendors (e.g., Siemens, Beckhoff).
  • Logical and solution-oriented thinking.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to improve technical knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Highly focused on customer service and exceeding client expectations.
  • Proficient in computer applications like MS Office.
  • Flexible working hours to meet customer needs, including occasional weekends and off-shift hours.
