Job summary

SunSource is seeking a Field Service Specialist for Industrial Automation in the Eastern St. Louis, MO area.

The role involves on-site and remote support, up to 70% travel to customer sites across MO, IL, and IN, and collaboration with an experienced automation team to resolve complex challenges. Ideal candidates have a two-year technical degree and 2+ years in the field, with PLC programming and Siemens product familiarity.

Qualifications

Two-year technical degree strongly preferred.
2+ years of field experience.
Strong PLC programming and automation knowledge.
Able to troubleshoot complex systems.
Excellent problem‑solving and customer service.
Travel up to 50% depending on work volume.
Valid driver’s license.
Willingness to work flexible hours.
Strong communication with cross‑functional teams.
Experience with Siemens products is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Perform on-site service work, traveling up to 70% of the time depending on work volume.
Manage and execute multiple automation service projects.
Develop and implement service solutions for customers’ automation challenges.
Write detailed service proposals and manage project lifecycles from inception to completion.
Analyze and interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, and PLC programs.
Perform mechanical installs of aluminum extrusion racking, guarding, and fencing products.
Build and maintain strong client relationships through excellent customer service and technical expertise.
Identify potential sales opportunities and generate leads for cross‑divisional collaboration.
Stay current with emerging trends in automation and factory solutions.
