Job summary

Automation & Factory Solutions (AFS), a SunSource company, seeks a motivated Automation Field Service Specialist to join the Technical Services team. This role blends hands-on automation work with customer interaction and offers growth toward senior technical/engineering roles.

You will travel to customer sites, perform on-site service, and develop service solutions with PLCs, motion control, or robotics while maintaining strong customer relationships.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree strongly preferred.
• 2+ years of relevant field experience.
• Strong background in PLC programming and related automation technologies.
• Proven mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively in high-pressure situations.
• Outstanding customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site service work and travel up to 70%.
• Manage and execute multiple automation service projects.
• Develop and implement service solutions for customers' automation challenges.
• Write detailed service proposals and manage project lifecycles from inception to completion.
• Analyze electrical diagrams, PLC programs, and blueprints.
• Build and install automation hardware and guarding components.
