Job summary

Novelis in Guthrie, KY is offering a 12-week on-site Automation Engineering Internship for Summer 2027. You will work with our local engineering team, gaining hands-on experience in industrial networking, MES, and automation projects under supervision by the Engineering Leader.

The role emphasizes learning, collaboration with Operations and Process Groups, and applying state-of-the-art techniques to resolve engineering problems. Open to current students with US work authorization.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited 4-year University.
• Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or recent Graduate.
• Interested in hands-on industry experience before graduation.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact across the organization.
• Authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Responsibilities

• Learn about industrial networking and infrastructure, application development, database management, and communication between systems.
• Provide support for Automation Engineering Projects.
• Contribute to MES and manufacturing process automation system improvements.
• Contribute to scripting interfaces and messaging between MES and sub-systems.
• Maintain automation cluster, applications, servers, storage and virtual environment.
• Assist with OS and application updates on automation devices.
• Apply advanced techniques to solve complex engineering problems.
• Support manufacturing by collaborating with Operations, Engineering and Process Groups.
