Job summary

The Automation Technician role at nittotire focuses on maintaining and improving automated manufacturing equipment and control systems. You will troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and industrial networks to reduce downtime and support safe production.

You will work with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, and IT/OT to develop automation capabilities, perform preventive maintenance, and mentor junior technicians in controls and diagnostics.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical training in industrial automation or related field.
• Experience in troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment in manufacturing.
• Proficiency with ladder logic, HMI, and electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of robotics, sensors, and motion control technologies.
• Familiarity with CMMS and maintenance best practices.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment during production failures.
• Diagnose electrical, controls, comms, and instrumentation issues.
• Maintain and update PLC/HMI systems and networks.
• Perform preventive/predictive maintenance on automation assets.
• Identify root causes and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Develop automation PM procedures and training for staff.
• Document work in the CMMS and support reliability goals.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and IT/OT teams.
