Job summary

Vesuvius North America is seeking an Automation Engineer to lead PLC, robotics, and material handling systems at our Huntington, WV plant. You will drive safe, reliable operation and continuous improvement with hands-on programming, debugging, and troubleshooting across Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms.

You will collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to reduce downtime, support CAPEX projects, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, automation engineering or equivalent.
• 3-5+ years in industrial automation, PLC programming and system integration.
• Automation/PLC certifications preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing and/or unionized environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
• Develop and maintain control logic, sequencing, interlocks, alarms, and safety functions.
• Lead robot design, integration, and end-of-arm tooling safety interfaces.
• Maintain motion control, servo systems, drives, and vision systems.
• Define and execute preventive maintenance for automation assets in CMMS.
• Support automation-related CAPEX projects from scope to validation.
