Job summary

CBRE is seeking an Automation Engineer to join the Global Workplace Solutions team in the United States. You will support complex material handling equipment (MHE) with controls expertise, focusing on preventive maintenance, reliability, and uptime.

The role involves on-site and remote troubleshooting, collaboration with site teams, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate has PLC/robotics/SCADA experience, two to five years of relevant work, and the flexibility to work varied

Qualifications

Requires Bachelor’s degree preferred; 2–5 years of relevant experience.
Experience in design cycles including specification, component selection & programming.
2+ years PLC programming experience.
2+ years robotics system experience.
2+ years SCADA experience.

Responsibilities

Promote safety and compliance with codes/regulations.
Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems (PLC/PC).
Serve as first-level escalation for on-site and remote troubleshooting, including off-hours.
Inspect systems to ensure operation meets design specs and client requirements.
Oversee development scope, work requests, scheduling, and coordination with outside contractors.
Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to implementation.
Monitor industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, AS-I) and motor control systems.
Communicate with stakeholders on technical issues, timelines, and impacts.
Analyze failures to drive improvements and retraining as needed.
Perform system assessments to maintain/improve reliability.
