Job summary

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is seeking an Automation Engineer to support advanced automation systems for one of the world’s largest online retailers. You’ll work with conveyors, sortation, PLCs, scanners, vision systems, print‑and‑apply equipment, and SCADA platforms to improve uptime and safety across mission critical facilities.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, preventive maintenance optimization, and collaboration with operations and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• US work authorization without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Bachelor's degree preferred with 2–5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with PLC programming, robotics components, and SCADA monitoring.
• Flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment by complying with codes, regulations, and company directives.
• Troubleshoot and modify software for material handling control systems (PLC/PC, RSLogix 5000).
• Provide first-level escalation support on-site and remotely, including outside business hours.
• Inspect systems to ensure operation aligns with design capabilities and client requirements.
• Coordinate with outside contractors on development, upgrades, and maintenance of specialized systems.
• Engineer process solutions and reliability improvements from concept to implementation.
• Monitor networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, Profibus, etc.) and equipment performance.
• Communicate with leadership and operations teams on timelines and impacts.
• Analyze failures and propose improvements or retraining to prevent recurrence.
