Job summary

G&W Electric is seeking an Advanced Automation Systems Engineer II to lead automation initiatives at our manufacturing facilities. You will design, program, Commission, and support robotics and automation systems, ensuring safety and quality while training staff on new equipment.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in production automation, PLC/HMI experience, and strong problem‑solving skills. Expect collaboration with internal/external partners and occasional travel within the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Computer/Mechanical Engineering preferred or other engineering disciplines.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in production automation.
• Experience writing PLC codes for Rockwell, Siemens, GE, or other PLC platforms.
• Experience writing HMI code with Ignition or FactoryTalk View.
• Experience with robotics and safety protocols.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and team facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist G&W in identifying, developing, and deploying automation projects.
• Assess opportunities and help create innovative equipment designs to streamline processes.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners on machine design concepts and robotics.
• Work on integration, programming, commissioning, and implementation of robotics projects.
• Support Industry 4.0 IoT device setup, support, and analytics.
• Develop equipment requirements and specifications for molding, assembly, and visual inspection.
• Create systems diagrams, electrical install drawings, BOMs, and material procurements.
• Collaborate with operations leadership to select technologies with productivity impact.
• Develop performance measures and provide leadership with recommendations.
• Monitor progress and resolve roadblocks for timely completion.
• Maintain expertise on plant-wide processes and equipment.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting support.
• Provide technical guidance to all staff on new equipment.
• Create and audit work procedures, standard work, and process instructions.
• Stay current on automation developments and apply to new initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
