Job summary

Serac seeks an Automation Engineer to lead development and execution of automation projects across isolated functions to integrated production lines. You will guide hardware design, software development, and integration of advanced control systems in a discrete manufacturing setting.

You will oversee risk analyses, ensure compliance with standards, and drive Industry 4.0 initiatives, including prototype testing and customer-site validation; willingness to travel as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent technical field, or 10+ years of relevant industrial automation experience.
• Proven experience troubleshooting PLCs (B&R), VFDs, HMIs, SCADA, instrumentation, and 480VAC equipment.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs, industrial networks, and field instrumentation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware selection and develop control software to meet machine and system specs; guide hardware design.
• Direct internal and external engineers to deliver fully integrated mechatronic systems and provide advanced troubleshooting.
• Plan and lead automation projects within budgets and milestones; manage teams, write specs, coordinate benchmarking.
• Perform risk analyses, adhere to standards, and produce clear technical documentation for execution.
• Evaluate Industry 4.0, machine intelligence, and AI concepts; conduct prototype testing and field trials; train personnel.
