Job summary

GrayMatter is seeking an Engineer I for our Ashland, VA team. You will design, implement, and support industrial control systems from concept through commissioning, collaborating with engineers and customers. Occasional travel to client sites is required to deliver high-quality automation solutions.

The role emphasizes hands-on troubleshooting, FAT/SAT, and customer-facing demonstrations, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and exceed customer expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 2+ years programming industrial PLCs (Rockwell, Siemens, Modicon).
• Experience implementing, commissioning, and troubleshooting control systems.
• Strong electrical knowledge and familiarity with schematics, P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and commission industrial control system solutions.
• Travel to client sites and work with cross-functional teams.
• Perform FAT, SAT, system startups, and customer demonstrations.
• Provide technical consultation and training to customers.
• Maintain project documentation and report status.
