Job summary

Cleanwater1, Inc. is seeking an Automation Specialist to design and implement industrial control systems for customers across water, energy, and manufacturing sectors in California.

You will develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications, configure networks, perform startup and commissioning, and provide ongoing support. The role requires an associate degree or technical certification and hands-on experience with industrial controls, Allen-Bradley platforms, and FactoryTalk/ Wonderware.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, Controls Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
• Experience with industrial control systems, automation technologies, and information systems.
• Knowledge of industrial networks, databases, PLCs, HMIs, and/or SCADA systems.
• Experience with industrial electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Understanding of motor control circuits and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• High level of initiative, dedication, and self-motivation.

Responsibilities

• Design industrial control systems, including hardware and software selection.
• Create electrical and mechanical drawings and documentation.
• Develop and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications.
• Configure industrial communication networks and related system infrastructure.
• Perform system startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
• Review and analyze existing automation systems and recommend improvements to enhance performance, reliability, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with system analysts, engineers, and customers to understand business and operational requirements.
• Translate customer and technical specifications into functional automation solutions and software code.
• Develop data migration tools and processes to support system upgrades and new implementations.
• Establish testing environments and execute comprehensive testing to identify and resolve software and system issues.
• Participate in technical and project meetings and provide regular project status updates.
• Deliver technical support and training to end users and customers.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and project records as required.
