Nucor, North America's largest steel producer, seeks an Automation Engineer to strengthen process control systems and improve product quality, output, and uptime. The role focuses on maintaining infrastructure, developing PLC/HMI software, and managing databases and vendor contracts.

The ideal candidate will have PLC/HMI/SCADA experience, strong programming skills in C/C++, SQL, and a proactive approach to safety and reliability in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 3+ years of Process Control/Automation experience.
• Ability to diagnose PLC, HMI, and automation issues in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with high-level programming languages and relational databases (C++, C#, SQL).
• Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL with solid database design knowledge.
• Working knowledge of virtualization environments and industrial networking concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain control networks, servers, and related software.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Process Control infrastructure: networks, servers, applications, and related platforms.
• Develop process software, PLC programs, and HMI applications.
• Administer control servers, licensing tools, and vendor support contracts.
• Resolve PLC, HMI, SCADA, and plant-network issues to reduce downtime.
• Create reports and analyze data to improve efficiency and product quality.
• Contribute to automation initiatives that optimize plant processes.
• Respond to manufacturing system needs during off-hours.
