Job summary

Newell Brands in the United States is seeking an Associate Automation Engineer, Design and Integration to support Engineering, Reliability & Automation by developing and deploying engineering standards, playbooks, templates, and project tools across sites.

Ideal for an early-career engineer (1–2 years) ready to grow across manufacturing engineering, design for manufacturing, and site-facing documentation while collaborating with ERA leaders, site teams, and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is required.
• 1–2 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, product/process development, plant engineering, automation, capital projects, or related work is preferred.
• Internship, co-op, capstone, undergraduate research, manufacturing project, or engineering competition experience is strongly preferred.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, technical drawings, equipment specifications, process flow, continuous improvement, and engineering documentation.
• Familiarity with CAD, DFM, Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA/PFMEA, project management tools, or technical writing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating, updating, and organizing engineering standards, guidelines, project templates, and site-facing documentation.
• Support ERA standards library with clear structure, version control, and reference materials.
• Capture lessons learned from pilots, reviews, vendor evaluations, and site deployments into reusable guidance.
• Help prepare technical playbooks, checklists, and training materials for consistency across sites.
• Work with SMEs to ensure standards reflect practical operating needs, safety, maintainability, and manufacturability.
• Support engineering reviews for capital projects, equipment changes, and automation initiatives.
• Assist with DFM tools and workflows, including manufacturability assessments and site inputs.
• Gather project data, organize inputs, prepare status updates, and track actions through completion.
• Review drawings, specs, vendor information, and docs with guidance from senior engineers.
• Participate in site assessments, project meetings, and cross-functional reviews.
