Job summary

Newell Brands seeks an Associate Automation Engineer to support Engineering, Reliability & Automation across manufacturing and distribution sites. You will help build, deploy, and maintain standards, playbooks, and templates to enable consistent project execution.

This early-career role emphasizes broad hands-on development, collaboration with ERA leaders, and the creation of practical tools for site teams. Travel up to 50% will be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, mechatronics, electrical) or related field.
• 1–2 years in manufacturing, product/process development, automation, or capital projects.
• Internship or capstone experience strongly preferred.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, drawings, specs, and documentation.
• Familiarity with CAD, Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA/PFMEA, or technical writing preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and SharePoint; Power BI or Smartsheet a plus.
• Ability to work across functions, sites, regions, and vendors.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating, updating, and organizing engineering standards, guidelines, and templates.
• Support ERA standards library with clear structure and version control.
• Capture lessons learned from pilot projects and use them as guidance.
• Help prepare technical playbooks, checklists, and training materials.
• Work with SMEs to ensure standards meet operating, safety, and manufacturability needs.
• Support engineering reviews for capital projects and automation initiatives.
• Assist with DFM tools, workflows, and site process capability inputs.
• Gather project data and track actions through completion.
• Review drawings, specs, and vendor information with senior engineers.
