Job summary

Nokian Tyres is seeking an Automation Engineer to provide controls support in a high-speed manufacturing setting in the United States. The role emphasizes PLCs, HMIs, drives, robotics, and safety systems to improve safety, reliability, and throughput.

You will analyze downtime, support root cause analysis, and collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering to implement improvements and capital projects.

Qualifications

• Experience with industrial automation hardware and software.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems.
• Experience with safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide automation and controls support to improve safety, reliability, quality, throughput, and equipment effectiveness.
• Troubleshoot and repair automated equipment including PLCs, HMIs, drives, robotics, sensors, actuators, and safety systems.
• Analyze downtime and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with maintenance, production, quality, engineering, safety, IT/OT, vendors, and suppliers to resolve issues.
• Maintain automation standards, control documentation, backups, change control, procedures, and checklists.
• Support automation improvements and capital projects through installation, commissioning, training, and turnover.
• Review supplier proposals and designs for feasibility, safety, cost, and standards alignment.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for automation and software systems.
• Recommend critical spare parts for automation components.
• Train and support employees on automation troubleshooting and safe work practices.
• Report automation metrics and project status to leadership.
