Job summary

Nokian Tyres is seeking an Automation Engineer to deliver robust automation and control system support in a high-speed manufacturing environment. You will troubleshoot, maintain, and improve PLCs, HMIs, drives, robotics, and safety systems to boost reliability and throughput.

You will collaborate with Maintenance, Production, Quality, Engineering, and IT/OT, contribute to root-cause analysis, and support capital projects, standards, and training initiatives across the site.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Automation/Mechatronics or related field with 3+ years in automation/controls in manufacturing.
Experience with equipment controls, PLC programming, HMI, drives, robotics, and automated manufacturing equipment.
Knowledge of production processes, quality control concepts, preventive maintenance, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement methods.
Experience in highly automated manufacturing; tire or rubber manufacturing preferred.
Willingness to work overtime, weekends, shutdowns; able to respond to urgent issues.
Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not provided.

Responsibilities

Provide automation and controls support to improve safety, reliability, quality, throughput, and equipment effectiveness.
Troubleshoot, repair, and improve automated equipment including PLCs, HMIs, drives, robotics, sensors, actuators, and safety systems.
Analyze downtime and failures; support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Coordinate with Maintenance, Production, Quality, Engineering, Safety, IT/OT, vendors for issue resolution.
Maintain automation standards, documentation, backups, change control, procedures, and standard work.
Support improvements and capital projects through installation, commissioning, training, documentation, turnover.
