Job summary

Voxel Innovations, Inc. in Knightdale, NC is seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Systems and Control Engineer to develop PECM equipment and processes. You will design controls software, integrate sensors and hardware, and build industrial control panels.

The role spans software (Python, SQL, Structured Text) and hardware work, including wiring, commissioning, and safety circuits. Be ready to own projects end-to-end and collaborate across disciplines.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 3–10+ years in automation, controls, or equipment development.
• Industrial electrical systems and panel design experience.
• Sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
• Programming for automation (PLC, structured text, or similar).
• Hands-on hardware experience (wiring, debugging, integration).
• Strong problem-solving and ability to work independently.
• Due to U.S. government contract requirements, US Citizen or Permanent Resident with green card required.
• Submit a cover letter describing interest in working at Voxel and our mission.

Responsibilities

• Write software programs and state machines using Structured Text, Python, and SQL for PECM equipment.
• Develop robot code to automate industrial robots (Kuka).
• Integrate third-party hardware like metrology equipment, sensors into the control architecture.
• Design and build industrial control panels, select sensors and hardware.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting for production equipment to minimize downtime.
• Help create budgets and timelines for controls and electrical projects.
• Ensure software records and backups meet quality requirements.
