Job summary
Sonoco is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to maintain, upgrade, and optimize automation systems in the Industrial Products Division. The role partners with maintenance, engineering and operations to boost safety, reliability and productivity.
Located in Hartsville, SC with travel flexibility to other locations; will work on control upgrades, installations, and system modernization, and provide commissioning support.
Qualifications
- Four-year degree in electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering with electrical preferred.
- Experience with PLC programming and control systems.
- Familiarity with Rockwell/AB, Siemens and related drives.
Responsibilities
- Lead automation and control projects from concept to commissioning.
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering and operations to meet scope, budget and schedule.
- Develop documentation for bidding, installation and startup of control projects.
- Support commissioning and startup activities for controls projects.
- Provide training to maintenance teams on new automation systems.
- Troubleshoot control systems during upsets and optimize performance.
