Job summary

Adient is seeking an Automation Applications Engineer to lead the installation and launch of automation projects in assembly plants, focusing on JIT and seat structure operations. You will coordinate with plant technical teams, central automation, and vendors to ensure safe, on-schedule deployment and adherence to Adient standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics or similar
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing automation, installation, launch, maintenance, or controls engineering; automotive interiors or assembly plant experience preferred
  • Experience leading automation projects from planning through installation, debug, commissioning, launch, and handoff
  • Hands-on experience installing automated equipment such as robot cells, conveyors, end-of-arm tooling, test systems, vision systems, safety systems, and plant-floor controls
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders including plant teams, central engineering, vendors, integrators, maintenance, IT, operations, and safety teams
  • Working knowledge of robot programming, controls systems, industrial networks, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, safety circuits, and equipment troubleshooting

Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation and launch of automation projects in assembly plants.
  • Coordinate activities between plant teams, central automation, vendors, suppliers, maintenance, IT, and leadership.
  • Develop and manage installation timelines, resource plans, and escalation plans.
  • Ensure compliance to equipment and process standards from spec to handoff.
  • Provide hands-on support during installation, debug, and commissioning.
  • Support robot installation, basic robot programming, path verification, safety validation, and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Identify suppliers and partners, ensure adherence to Adient standards, and drive performance reviews.
