Job summary

Adient in Normal, IL is seeking an Automation / Robot Specialist to own automation performance across manufacturing operations. You will develop, integrate, optimize, and troubleshoot PLC, robot, vision, motion, safety, and industrial networks to achieve target cycle times, throughput, quality, and uptime.

You will launch and stabilize systems, perform root-cause analysis, document configurations, and train sustainment teams for a smooth handoff after launch, while ensuring robust documentation

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Robotics, Automation, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• At least five years hands-on experience in manufacturing automation and robotics.
• Strong expertise with Rockwell ControlLogix, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk View.
• Fanuc robot programming and offline programming experience.
• Experience with vision systems and industrial networks.

Responsibilities

• Own automation system performance and daily optimization of automated cells.
• Develop, modify, test, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, robot, vision, motion-control programs.
• Optimize robot paths, motion profiles, and safety interlocks.
• Apply root-cause analysis to eliminate chronic failures.
• Configure and maintain vision systems, sensors, and networked devices.
• Support installation, commissioning, and 90-day stabilization with cross-functional teams.
• Perform offline programming, reach studies, and risk assessment before production.
• Manage program revisions and maintain technical documentation.
• Train sustainment personnel and ensure smooth handoff after launch.
• Track performance against cycle-time, direct-labor reduction, repeat-failure elimination, and uptime targets.
