Position Summary
Perform installation, operation, and maintenance of the Energy Management & Controls Systems (EMCS) to monitor and control environmental conditions in campus buildings. Requires knowledge of HVAC systems, control devices, control theory for building HVAC, and the ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
Compensation
- Pay: $56,000 - $66,000 (Hourly)
Work Schedule
- Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm
- 12‑month appointment term
- No remote/telecommute opportunity
Job Duties
- Hot & Cold Calls (30%) – Respond to “Hot & Cold” calls, repair pneumatic and DDC VAV box controls with assistance, calibrate and replace pneumatic T‑stats and other miscellaneous pneumatic equipment.
- Monitor Tridium Front‑End System (15%) – Monitor campus system from the Tridium front‑end and identify problems.
- Diagnose Problems (15%) – Diagnose problems with AHUs and VFDs; repair or reset if necessary.
- Repair of HVAC Systems (10%) – Assist other University personnel in the operation and repair of HVAC systems.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance (10%) – Perform preventative maintenance on control systems.
- Energy Metering Systems (10%) – Diagnose and repair problems with the energy metering systems with assistance.
- Work Orders (5%) – Document completed preventive maintenance and work order requests using the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Work Alongside Outside Contractors (5%) – Work alongside outside contractors for the installation and commissioning of EMCS in new construction and renovation projects.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma
- Experience: One year in installation, diagnostics, and repair of automated controls for HVAC systems
- License/Certification: Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in HVAC Systems Technology or Electronics Technology
- Experience: Prior experience with Niagara/Tridium & Staefa systems; experience with lighting controls and utility metering systems
