Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Controls Technician to join a manufacturing organization supporting defense, aerospace, and automotive. You will troubleshoot automated equipment, support controls systems, and implement routine PLC and HMI updates to improve pilot manufacturing operations.

You will collaborate with engineering and production teams, perform live changes in PLC/HMI, and document all modifications.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
Hands-on troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment in industrial settings.
Ability to read and understand PLC ladder logic.
Experience making PLC/HMI changes in live production.
Troubleshoot PLC programs, I/O, instrumentation, and operator interfaces.
Read electrical schematics and controls documentation.
Use multimeters for electrical troubleshooting.
Strong documentation and organizational skills.
Wiring and soldering experience.
U.S. Person due to export-controlled facilities and information.

Responsibilities

Serve as first point of support for PLC, HMI, I/O, drives, and instrumentation.
Troubleshoot and resolve controls-related equipment failures with engineers and vendors.
Implement and validate PLC logic, HMI screens, recipes, tags, and parameters.
Test system changes in production to ensure reliability and performance.
Document control system changes, testing results, and software revisions.
Review electrical drawings and controls documentation to aid troubleshooting.
Coordinate maintenance windows with production and engineering teams.
Support electricians with code-level troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Contribute to continuous improvement for equipment reliability and traceability.
