Job summary

Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope is seeking a Controls Engineer to improve existing and commission new metal processing equipment, reporting to the Director of Engineering. This role focuses on plant-level automation, PLC programming, troubleshooting, and modernization of automation systems.

The ideal candidate brings 3–5+ years in controls engineering, expertise with Allen-Bradley PLCs/HMIs/VFDs, and a Bachelor’s in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering. NFPA/ANSI/ISO knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

3–5+ years of controls engineering or industrial automation experience in manufacturing.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs.
Knowledge of NFPA, ANSI, ISO standards.
Experience with equipment commissioning, automation upgrades, and legacy PLC migrations is preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain product quality and drive process efficiency in high-volume manufacturing.
Program, modify, troubleshoot, and optimize Allen-Bradley PLC-based control systems and automation equipment.
Assist with commissioning new equipment and integrating automation devices.
Investigate and resolve controls-related issues affecting safety, downtime, output, quality, alarms.
Leverage production data to identify improvements and develop automated reporting.
Support process optimization and capital projects to improve plant performance.
