Job summary

Actalent in Georgetown, KY is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to design and implement electrical controls for material handling systems, including PLC, HMI, machine vision, and robotics. This role combines hardware design with software programming and troubleshooting, collaborating with customers and internal teams to deliver automation solutions from concept through installation.

You will split time ~50/50 between hardware design and programming/troubleshooting, travel about 25% for

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field or an associate with applicable experience.
Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting across Mitsubishi, Keyence, and Allen-Bradley platforms.
Hands-on experience designing and programming HMI systems and machine vision.

Responsibilities

Design electrical controls for material handling systems ensuring safe, reliable operation.
Program, install, and troubleshoot PLC systems on various platforms.
Design and program HMI systems for operator control and visibility.
Design, program, install, and troubleshoot machine vision systems.
Design, program, install, and troubleshoot robotic systems.
Collaborate with customers to evaluate project requirements and feasibility.
Oversee electrical fabrication and assembly with shop personnel.
Power on equipment, debug systems, and conduct in-house trials.
Lead on-site installation support during commissioning and startup.
Balance ~50% hardware design and programming/troubleshooting.
Work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve performance.
Provide timely troubleshooting for automation systems.
