Job summary

Atlas Copco in Grayling, MI seeks a Controls Engineer to design, program and implement control systems for automated feeding equipment. You will work with mechanical engineers, project managers and clients to deliver high-performance automation solutions that meet exacting standards.

Required: a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or mechatronics and 3+ years in controls engineering, with PLC/HMI development experience (Allen Bradley, Siemens) and CAD tooling (AutoCAD, EPLAN).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in controls engineering, preferably in automation or feeding systems.
• Proficiency in PLC programming and HMI development for Allen Bradley and Siemens products.
• Strong understanding of industrial automation components (sensors, motors, drives, etc.).
• Willingness to travel 10–20%.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop control systems for automated feeding equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and actuators.
• Program and debug PLCs and HMIs for custom automation solutions (Allen Bradley and Siemens).
• Create electrical schematics and panel layouts using CAD software (AutoCAD and EPLAN).
• Collaborate with mechanical and software teams to integrate controls with mechanical systems.
• Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning at customer sites as needed.
• Develop and maintain documentation including wiring diagrams, control logic, and user manuals.
• Provide technical support and training to customers and internal teams.
