Job summary

Atlas Copco North America LLC in Grayling, MI seeks a skilled Controls Engineer to design, program, and implement control systems for automated feeding equipment. You will collaborate with mechanical and software teams to deliver high-performance automation solutions that meet exacting standards.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in controls engineering, experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs, and proficiency in AutoCAD/EPLAN.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
3+ years of experience in controls engineering, preferably in automation or feeding systems
Experience with motion control and servo systems is a plus
Proficiency in PLC programming and HMI development for Allen Bradley and Siemens products
Strong understanding of industrial automation components (sensors, motors, drives, etc.)
Safety protocols and OSHA standards experience a plus
Travel may be required (10-20%)
Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform related tasks

Responsibilities

Design and develop control systems for automated feeding equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and actuators
Program and debug PLCs and HMIs for custom automation solutions, specifically Allen Bradley and Siemens
Create electrical schematics and panel layouts using CAD software, specifically AutoCAD and EPLAN
Collaborate with mechanical and software teams to integrate controls with mechanical systems
Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning in-house and at customer sites
Develop and maintain documentation including wiring diagrams, control logic, and user manuals
Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations (e.g., NFPA 79, UL508A)
Provide technical support and training to customers and internal teams
Schedule: Monday through Friday with possible Saturdays up to 50 hours/week
