Job summary

Astranis, a leader in space-grade satellite technology, offers an Automation & Controls Engineering Intern position for Summer 2027 in San Francisco. You will help build automated test infrastructure for environmental testing of spacecraft hardware, including electrical controls and telemetry pipelines.

You'll operate at the intersection of hardware and software, collaborating with experienced engineers from early design through commissioning, validation, and operational support.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, CS, or related technical degree.
• Experience with electrical circuits, instrumentation, sensors, or data acquisition.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Willingness to work in a lab or factory environment and perform hands-on hardware tasks.

Responsibilities

• Support the design, build, integration, and commissioning of automated test systems for spacecraft hardware and ground-support equipment
• Assist with electrical controls hardware, including control panels, wiring, sensors, actuators, relays, power distribution, DAQ systems, and safety interlocks
• Collaborate with environmental test, mechanical, electrical, reliability, manufacturing, and software teams to build safe and repeatable test solutions
