Job summary

Gentex Corporation in Fort Riley North, KS seeks a Controls Engineer II to develop, deploy, and improve automated manufacturing systems on-site. The role requires hands-on design and integration of controls for high‑volume production environments.

You will develop PLC programs, create schematics, evaluate hardware and software, and collaborate with engineers to standardize solutions across equipment while training production teams during launches.

Qualifications

• 4-year Engineering degree or combination of education and equivalent controls engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of experience designing, programming or integrating automated equipment.
• Experience with robotics applications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Support Large Area Device manufacturing at North Riley Campus and State Street.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, expert-like support for new and existing automated systems.
• Monitor and define areas of improvement within existing automated equipment.
• Develop PLC programs and software for new and existing equipment.
• Create electrical and pneumatic schematics.
• Evaluate and specify hardware and software for automated equipment.
• Work with other Engineers to standardize automated and programming solutions across similar equipment.
• Support engineering team members in the development of new processes for manufacturing.
• Educate and train production support teams during equipment or software launch.
• Research and develop new solutions for automated equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
