Job summary

Gentex is seeking a Controls Engineer with a robotics focus to develop, deploy, and improve automated manufacturing systems. The role emphasizes robotics processes, programming, and cross-functional collaboration across engineering teams.

You will design and optimize control systems, support new equipment launches, and research innovative robotic solutions while addressing obsolescence and maintenance needs.

Qualifications

• 4-year Engineering degree or combination of education and equivalent controls engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of experience designing, programming or integrating automated equipment and robotic solutions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for new and existing automated systems.
• Identify areas of improvement within existing automated equipment.
• Identify areas of improvement by studying data from Gentex software systems.
• Develop programs for new and existing equipment, using both on-line and off-line programming techniques.
• Actively participate in the evaluation and specifying of hardware and software for the automated equipment.
• Work with other Engineers to standardize automated and programming solutions across similar equipment, with heavy focus on robot point teaching methods, fixtures, and procedures.
• Support engineering team members in the development of new processes for manufacturing.
• Work with production support teams during equipment or software launch.
• Research and develop new robotic solutions for automated equipment.
• Identify and address areas of obsolescence. Work closely with maintenance to address spare parts, obsolescence, and other robotic maintenance needs.
• Other duties as assigned.
