Job summary

General Motors in Kansas City, KS is seeking a Controls Engineer to support high-volume manufacturing with PLC-based control systems. You will address production issues alongside quality, manufacturing, and maintenance teams on the shop floor.

The role requires a BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 5 years of automation experience, with strong programming and problem-solving skills. Onsite relocation benefits may be available for this full-time position.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field, or equivalent working experience.
5 years of experience with industrial automation or controls systems.
Availability to work assigned off-shifts, including afternoon and/or night shifts.

Responsibilities

Configure, program, test and troubleshoot PLC based control systems and associated components.
Electrical troubleshooting and testing of controls systems, control panels, and associated equipment.
Diagnose and correct deficiencies in manufacturing processes and equipment.
Develop innovative solutions.
Design and deploy intuitive user interface displays.
Propose and evaluate manufacturing processes and equipment.
Lead and support installation, start-up, maintenance, and operation of automation systems.
Continuously improve quality, cost, responsiveness & safety.
