Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Building Automation professional to assist engineers in designing and documenting HVAC control systems for projects in California. You will support software design, testing, and on-site training for end users, ensuring systems meet project scope and specifications.

The role requires a vocational HVAC/control automation background; a bachelor’s degree is preferred and 1–3 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Vocational degree in HVAC/Building Automation Controls – Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Construction Management or related field – Preferred
• 1–3 years of hands-on experience in systems programming and commissioning of digital HVAC controls (DDC) preferred
• Working knowledge of HVAC mechanical and electrical systems
• Good troubleshooting skills and MS Suite familiarity

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing building automation systems including mechanical layouts and control sequences
• Perform low to medium complex software design, trials, and tests
• Support training for customers and document feedback for project leaders
• Attend meetings to understand scope, estimates, and requirements
• Create/verify point databases and related programming for systems
• Back up data and assist with project documentation
• Provide end-user training on system operations
