Job summary

GCP, a Saint-Gobain brand, seeks a Controls & Automation Engineer to drive plant-wide automation initiatives across North America. You will lead PLC/SCADA/HMI projects, design and upgrade control systems, and collaborate with operations to improve safety, quality, and productivity.

The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, system integration with MES/ERP, and the ability to manage multiple capital projects with a focus on reliability and efficiency. Travel up to 50% may be required.

Qualifications

• BS degree in electrical engineering; minimum four years' experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with automation, PLC, SCADA, HMI, and controls in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation fundamentals.
• Proven troubleshooting and commissioning skills.
• Familiarity with MES, ERP integration, and data visualization.

Responsibilities

• Lead automation initiatives across North American sites.
• Design and upgrade control systems to improve reliability and productivity.
• Manage capital and continuous improvement projects focused on safety and efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities.
• Develop system architectures integrating shop-floor controls with MES/ERP and reporting tools.
• Support troubleshooting, commissioning, startup activities, and root cause analysis.
• Create dashboards and visualization tools for monitoring and decision-making.
• Monitor utilities consumption and drive efficiency improvements.
• Ensure OSHA compliance and company standards.
• Coordinate automation vendors and contractors for project execution.
• Drive uptime and process consistency across plants.
