Re:Build Manufacturing is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer Co-op/Intern to apply engineering education to real-world industrial automation projects at on-site sites in Rochester, NY and Rush, NY. You will work with engineering, design, trades, and project management teams across multiple industries, gaining hands-on experience throughout the automation lifecycle.

Qualifications

Pursuing BS/MS in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering from an accredited college.
Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate within a project team.
Curiosity, adaptability, and willingness to learn.
Experience with CAD software or tools.
On-site availability in Rochester, NY and/or Rush, NY.
Preferred: AutoCAD Electrical experience.
Preferred: Experience with PLC platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff, Schneider) and/or industrial robotics.
Preferred: Prior co-op/internship or academic project in automation engineering.
Preferred: Familiarity with ISO 9001, CSIA, or similar quality systems.
Preferred: Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

Support automation projects from requirements gathering and functional specifications through design, programming, fabrication, and troubleshooting.
Develop control system architectures, P&IDs, and instrumentation and automation equipment specifications.
Create electrical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
Develop PLC code and configure HMI applications with guidance from experienced engineers.
Create bills of materials and support equipment and component selection.
Research and apply relevant electrical codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA 70E, and UL508A.
Support fabrication, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
Prepare technical reports, specifications, and other project documentation.
Participate in internal and client project meetings and design reviews.
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to plan and execute project tasks.
Partner with a senior or principal engineer mentor to establish and work toward technical and professional development goals.
