Job summary

TRS Staffing Solutions seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer – Automation & Controls for on-site operations in Minnesota. The role supports electrical, instrumentation, automation, commissioning, and maintenance across iron ore mining and pellet production facilities.

Strong hands-on experience with Honeywell DCS and Rockwell PLC platforms is required. The position involves collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Instrumentation & Controls, contractors and vendors to ensure

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
5+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, industrial automation, or heavy industrial operations.
Hands-on experience with Honeywell DCS systems.
Hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation PLCs (ControlLogix/CompactLogix).
Experience in mining, mineral processing, steel, metals, pelletization, cement, power, or other heavy process industries is preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead and support electrical engineering activities for mining, concentrator, and pellet plant facilities.
Design, implement, test, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical and automation systems.
Provide hands-on technical support for Honeywell DCS systems.
Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, and system integrators on electrical and automation deliverables.
Perform loop checking, I/O verification, FAT/SAT, commissioning, startup, and performance testing.
Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, and control wiring.
