Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 6+ years of hands-on Controls/Automation Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong Siemens PLC programming and troubleshooting using TIA Portal.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop industrial control systems for new manufacturing equipment.
• Develop PLC programs from scratch and enhance existing machine controls.
• Program, troubleshoot, commission, and support automated equipment during installation and startup.
• Provide hands-on support for machinery, electrical controls, automation, and process improvements.
• Lead controls engineering activities for complex automation projects.
• Integrate PLCs with robotics, vision systems, SCADA, HMI, and MES platforms.
• Develop and troubleshoot PLC-based product tracking, handshakes, data transactions, and equipment interfaces.
• Support FAT, SAT, equipment commissioning, startup, and vendor coordination.
• Troubleshoot equipment downtime, throughput, controls, electrical, safety, and process-related issues.
• Read, interpret, and redline electrical schematics and control drawings.
• Document testing, troubleshooting procedures, and equipment modifications.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior controls engineers.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, maintenance, manufacturing, and external vendors.
• Participate in rotating off-hours/on-call support as required.

Job description

This role will be responsible for designing, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and sustaining automated production systems from initial development through production deployment.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on Controls/Automation Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong Siemens PLC programming and troubleshooting experience using TIA Portal.
• Strong Rockwell/Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 programming and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with legacy PanelView systems.
• Hands-on experience with HMI/SCADA systems, including:
• Ignition Perspective
• Rockwell FactoryTalk View ME
• Experience with PLC data transactions, product tracking, equipment handshakes, and MES integration.
• Strong electrical and controls troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with functional safety systems, including:
• Rockwell CIP Safety
• Hardwired safety circuits
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and engineering drawings.
• Strong communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering and manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field; equivalent hands-on experience may be considered.
