Job summary

ANDRITZ in Arlington, TX is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, develop, implement, and commission industrial automation and control systems. You will lead projects from concept through startup, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver safe and reliable automation solutions for manufacturing and process operations.

The role requires 3+ years of automation experience, strong PLC programming skills, and familiarity with Rockwell/Siemens platforms, plus HMI/SCADA tools.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design and implement PLC-, HMI-, and SCADA-based control systems.
• Develop control system architecture, I/O lists, and network designs.
• Program, test, and commission PLCs and HMIs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
• Integrate field devices including sensors, VFDs, servos, motion systems, and robotics.
• Lead system startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
• Support equipment FATs, SATs, and customer acceptance activities.
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics and as-built documentation.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, IT, and operations teams.
• Support automation upgrades, retrofits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure systems comply with applicable safety and electrical standards.

The Automation Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and

commissioning of industrial automation and control systems. This role leads automation

projects from concept through startup, working closely with cross-functional teams to

deliver safe, reliable, and efficient solutions that support manufacturing and process

operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement PLC-, HMI-, and SCADA-based control systems


• Develop control system architecture, I/O lists, and network designs


• Program, test, and commission PLCs and HMIs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)


• Integrate field devices including sensors, VFDs, servos, motion systems, and robotics


• Lead system startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities


• Support equipment FATs, SATs, and customer acceptance activities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Rockwell Automation or Siemens platforms


• Experience with HMI/SCADA development (FactoryTalk, WinCC, Ignition, etc.)


• Experience with robotics, motion control, and vision systems


• Familiarity with industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus)


• Knowledge of safety standards (NFPA 70, NFPA 79, ISO 13849)


• Experience supporting capital projects or system integration


• Manufacturing or industrial project environments


• Travel for installations and commissioning as required (typically 25-50%)
