Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking an Automation Engineer - Commissioning in Engineering Services. You will commission, test, troubleshoot, and document control system projects at customer sites, while contributing to power system automation designs and HMI development.

The role requires 2+ years of experience with power systems, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and a willingness to travel 60% domestically and internationally. Strong teamwork and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

2+ years relevant application experience with electric power systems, industry practices, and automation/power systems.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Good knowledge of electric power system protection and control, integration and/or automation and communications applications.
Willing to travel domestically and internationally a minimum of 60%.
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Background check results satisfactory to SEL.
Negative drug test result(s).

Responsibilities

Commissioning, functionally testing, troubleshooting and diagnosing issues related to control system logic, communications, I/O and field wiring at customer locations.
Contributing to Power System Automation designs and logic/HMI development, testing and documentation in office.
Prepare and maintain detailed design documents, reports and test deliverables.

Other duties as assigned.
