Job summary

Eli Lilly and Company is seeking an Automation Architect within the Security Architecture & Engineering team. You will own how the team automates its work, set patterns and standards, and lead a small team of automation engineers while staying hands-on in code.

You will design AI-augmented workflows, ensure reliable, scalable automation, and collaborate with platform owners and engineering partners to align cloud and application security with automation strategy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/equivalent with 4+ years of experience in Cyber Security, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience across security, software engineering, or a combination, including hands-on development work.
• Experience leading engineers, whether as a direct manager or as a technical lead ready to take on people management.

Responsibilities

• Own the automation architecture and roadmap for the team; design and build automation that lasts; set harness strategy for agentic workflows; contribute input to cloud and application security directions; manage and develop a small team of automation engineers.
• Lead and collaborate across Security Architecture & Engineering, platform owners, and engineering partners whose systems are touched by automation.
• Design and implement Python-based automation, APIs integrations, and AI-augmented workflows; maintain reliability, security, and scalability.
• Review work, guide engineers, and ensure code is documented and maintainable; hire for and onboard automation team as it grows.
