Job summary

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) seeks a hands-on Quality Engineering & Release Manager to build automated testing from the ground up and own the release gate process. You will define risk-based quality standards and ensure readiness criteria are met before deployment, partnering with Engineering, Product, and Agile teams to improve software quality across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience building a test automation practice from the ground up.
• Experience owning release management in a sprint-based environment.
• Judgment to make and hold go/no-go release decisions.
• Hands-on automated testing design and maintenance, including regression tests.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI workflows.
• Strong knowledge of test coverage, data, environments, and release-readiness practices.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions to engineers and executives.
• English proficiency for cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own automated test framework from scratch and enable adoption.
• Define risk-based quality standards and determine what to automate vs manual.
• Own Definition of Done, sprint exit criteria, regression and test data strategies.
• Shift quality left by validating acceptance criteria early in development.
• Own release readiness criteria and go/no-go decisions with leadership.
• Manage end-to-end change control, records, audit trails, and release notes.
• Collaborate with Engineering on deployments and ensure quality gates are met before deployment.
• Serve as escalation point for production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
