Job summary

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is seeking a Manager, Quality Engineering & Release to build and own our automated quality engineering capability and the release gate that capability makes possible. This is a hands-on role to establish automated testing, define risk-based standards, and ensure releases meet readiness criteria before deployment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience building a test automation practice from the ground up.
• Experience owning release management in a sprint-based environment, including change control in an audited or regulated context.
• Demonstrated judgment and authority to make and hold go/no-go release decisions.
• Hands-on experience designing and maintaining automated testing, including end-to-end regression testing.
• Experience integrating automated tests into continuous integration workflows.
• Strong knowledge of test coverage, regression testing, test data, test environments, defect triage, root-cause analysis, and release-readiness practices.
• Ability to assess risk, diagnose complex production issues, and communicate release impacts to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the automated test framework from the ground up and drive adoption.
• Establish risk-based test coverage and determine what to automate vs. keep manual.
• Own Definition of Done, sprint exit criteria, and regression strategy.
• Shift quality earlier in the lifecycle by reviewing acceptance criteria before work begins.
• Own release readiness criteria and go/no-go decisions with technical leadership.
• Own change control end-to-end, including approvals, audit trails, and records integrity.
• Own release notes, rollback criteria, and post-release verification.
• Collaborate with Engineering on deployments; ensure quality criteria are met for deployment.
