Job summary

Laramie County in Cheyenne, WY seeks an Auto Title/UCC Clerk to perform titling and lien processing tasks under direct supervision. You will research VINs, resolve ownership disputes, and liaise with dealers, banks, and the DOT to obtain vehicle history reports and ensure regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include reviewing legal documents for transfer of ownership, maintaining UCC filing records, and advising customers on title requirements; eligibility for notary is required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of auto titles functions and activities.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations for transfer of ownership of personal property.
• Knowledge of filing, perfecting, releasing and terminating liens.
• Knowledge of scanning/transmitting documents.
• Ability to liaise with dealers, banks, and public.

Responsibilities

• Conducts research of State and local databases to resolve discrepancies in VINs, ownership disputes, and chain of title; provides information to law enforcement; liaises with other titling jurisdictions.
• Corresponds with motor vehicle dealers, banks, credit unions, insurance/finance companies and the public regarding titling requirements; liaises with DOT for vehicle history reports.
• Examines and analyzes legal documentation for transfer of ownership; ensures compliance with state/federal rules.
• Accepts and verifies financial statements and other documents for filing and perfection of liens; maintains database of UCC filing information; terminates liens.
• Interviews, confers and advises customers on requirements to establish ownership of motor vehicles.
• Stays current on changes; assists with developing policies and procedures.
