Job summary

The Assistant Store Manager at Genuine Parts Company’s NAPA retail store uses automotive knowledge, customer service, and leadership to operate the store and lead the team. This role is a developmental pathway to Store Manager, may require overtime and keyholder responsibilities opening and closing the store, and involves coaching staff to deliver

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in the automotive after-market service industry or willingness to learn.
• Leadership experience is required.
• Passion for delivering customer care and building long-term relationships.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment.
• Knowledge of cataloging and/or inventory management systems.
• Ability to lift 60 lbs in certain situations.
• Background in automotive/heavy equipment/dealerships is a plus.
• Experience in a parts store, auto-related environment, or similar management role.

Responsibilities

• Partner daily with Store Manager on operations, sales execution, inventory health, labor/scheduling alignment, and team performance.
• Actively sell and build customer relationships across retail and wholesale channels.
• Model expected behaviors, processes, and customer standards.
• Execute or oversee opening and closing routines (security, cash reconciliation, end-of-day reporting).
• Handle or support administrative tasks: scheduling input, compliance documentation, performance tracking/reporting.
• Monitor and act on core store metrics to improve sales and operations.
• Provide leadership oversight, training and performance management for store functions.
• Support talent development and mentorship for advancement.
• Drive adherence to safety, asset protection, and continuous improvement initiatives.
