Description

Under general direction from the supervisor, performs maintenance and repairs to university owned automotive and utility vehicles.

• Performs preventive maintenance on university vehicles, such as oil changes; changing filters; rotating and balancing tires; lubricating; setting engine timing; front end alignments; brake adjustments; and clutch repairs.
• Performs general maintenance on university vehicles, such as minor and major engine tune-ups; brake relining; replacement of shocks and ball-joints; replacement of exhaust systems; repair of hydraulic systems.
• Performs a wide variety of general maintenance and basic repairs for 36-, 48-, and 72-volt electric utility vehicles, including but limited to battery discharge test, drive and control systems diagnostics, and standard vehicle repairs.
• Uses computerized equipment such as handheld scanners and code readers to diagnose vehicle system problems.
• May tow vehicles to garage or start disabled vehicles across campus as needed.
• Test vehicles and equipment after repairs are completed.
• May change tires, repair flats, wash vehicles, repair body damage, and replace glass.
• May be assigned to serve on special task force during periods of emergency, such as floods, storms, hurricanes, etc.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
