Job Summary

Symbiotic Services is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Auto Cutter Operator / Furniture CAD Technician for a confidential client specializing in upholstered furniture manufacturing.

The position is responsible for developing, arranging, and optimizing fabric patterns using CAD software to ensure accurate material cutting and maximum fabric utilization. The successful candidate will prepare cutting layouts based on customer orders, verify pattern accuracy, and support efficient manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Formaris and Diamino CAD software , strong technical skills in furniture pattern development, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

CAD Programming & Fabric Pattern Development

• Develop and arrange upholstery patterns using furniture CAD software based on fabric dimensions, designs, and customer specifications.
• Create and optimize pattern layouts and cutting markers to maximize fabric yield and minimize material waste.
• Utilize Formaris and Diamino software for furniture pattern preparation and layout optimization.
• Verify the accuracy of geometric shapes, pattern details, dimensions, and individual components within the CAD system.
• Generate full-size patterns using Okidata printing equipment.

Quality Control & Production Accuracy

• Review CAD patterns and cutting layouts to ensure accuracy before releasing them for production.
• Identify and correct pattern inconsistencies, measurement errors, and layout issues.
• Ensure patterns meet established manufacturing specifications and quality standards.
• Maintain detailed notes and production documentation for future reference.
• Support material optimization and waste reduction while maintaining high-quality workmanship.

Production Operations & Team Collaboration

• Coordinate with cutting operators and production personnel to ensure accurate material preparation.
• Maintain organized CAD files, patterns, and production documentation.
• Work independently to complete assigned tasks within production deadlines.
• Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Use Microsoft Excel, Word, and other computer applications to support daily operations.
• Follow established manufacturing procedures and workplace safety standards.
• Support continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of Furniture CAD experience, including Formaris and Diamino.
• Strong understanding of upholstery pattern development, fabric layouts, and marker preparation.
• Ability to interpret geometric shapes, pattern details, and cutting specifications.
• Experience measuring fabric repeats and optimizing material utilization.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain accurate production records and technical notes.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Availability to work full-time and overtime as required.

• Experience with Lectra cutting systems and hand-cutting operations.

Physical Requirements

Work Schedule:

Monday–Thursday: 6:00 AM–4:30 PM

Occasional Fridays: 6:00 AM–10:00 AM

Approximately 40–45 hours per week.

No Saturday work.

Overtime may be required based on production demands.
