Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group Auto PD Adjuster - Service Claims is a full-time, exempt role with a hybrid work setup (two days in the office) across multiple offices, including Howell, MI. You will manage a caseload from intake to resolution, determine coverage, conduct investigations, evaluate damages, and negotiate settlements in line with policy terms and jurisdictional requirements.

This role requires an associate degree (bachelor's preferred) and 3–4 years of Auto claims experience; Guidewire

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred or combination of education and experience.
• Typically has 3-4 years of Auto claim-handling experience.
• Guidewire experience is a plus.
• Proficient with MS Office and basic internet/navigation.
• Knowledge of insurance products, processes, and relevant laws.
• Negotiate within authority and handle investigations independently.
• Clear, empathetic communication across channels.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines.
• Investigative skills and adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of moderately complex service claims from intake through resolution.
• Conduct thorough investigations, assess liability, and evaluate damages.
• Engage underwriting, legal, and stakeholders for comprehensive investigation.
• Identify and refer suspicious claims to the Special Investigation Unit.
• Transfer risk to appropriate parties.
• Maintain adjuster licenses and continuing education credits.
• Handle claims within authority; use discretion and independent judgment.
• Set reserves and authorize payments within scope of authority.
• Review and validate intake claims; document findings.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve issues; adhere to procedures.
• Utilize technology and data tools to enhance processing efficiency.
• Resolve claims with empathy and customer-centricity; document evidence.
• Maintain compliant documentation of claim activities and communications.
