Job summary

Harris County is seeking an Adjuster 1 to investigate auto claims, handle subrogation, and assess bodily injury cases. You will provide accurate information to claimants and staff, testify in court, and prepare reports. This role requires attention to detail and strong communication.

Regular full-time position based in Houston, with standard business hours. Texas Adjuster license and three years of relevant experience preferred; background check and drug screen required.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• Three (3) years’ experience handling auto claims, subrogation, and bodily injury.
• Texas Dept. of Insurance Adjusters license required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to make independent decisions and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and assists with handling simple property damage and liability claims.
• Handles basic questions from claimants, employees and the public; refers complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Provides accurate information via email, correspondence, telephone or in person.
• Testifies in court proceedings and participates in mediations and hearings.
• Prepares reports and presentations; manages diverse tasks with attention to detail.
• Coordinates worker's compensation claims with the claim contractor.
• Assists in all HR and Risk Management areas as required.
