Job summary

Gerber Collision & Glass in Sanford, FL, is seeking an Auto Body Repair Technician to inspect, repair, and restore vehicles to factory specifications. You will read repair orders, estimate costs, and perform bodywork using cutting tools, jacks, hammers, and fillers.

You’ll realign chassis, replace parts, weld, and repaint to ensure quality workmanship. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus a technical school program or a 3-year apprenticeship.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of technical school program OR a 3-year apprenticeship.
• Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
• Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop.
• Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
• Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade.

Responsibilities

• Plan the repair work that is necessary and prepares cost estimates for customers.
• Hammers out dents, dimples, and other minor body damage and applies filler resins when needed.
• Realigns car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
• Removes damaged sections and replaces with new or aftermarket parts; repairs glass and windshields.
• Welds and attaches parts, and prepares/repaints vehicles per factory specs.
• Complete work orders within labor time guidelines and inspect vehicles after repair.
