Job summary

KIPP North Carolina Public Schools is seeking an EC Self-Contained Autism Teacher (K–5) to lead a highly structured classroom for students with autism. The role emphasizes SDI, structured teaching approaches, and collaboration with speech, OT/PT, and ABA specialists to support communication and independence.

The position involves maintaining IEP documentation, implementing behavior plans, and partnering with families to promote inclusion within the school community.

Qualifications

• Active NC EC Certification or ability to seek reciprocity
• Experience with students with autism in self-contained or specialized settings
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant content area
• Criminal background check required

Responsibilities

• Provide SDI to K–5 students with autism in a self-contained classroom
• Implement TEACCH, visual schedules, and structured work systems
• Deliver academic, behavioral, communication, and social-emotional instruction
• Collaborate with related service providers to embed communication supports
• Provide direct instruction and support in functional and self-help skills
• Maintain and document IEP progress and eligibility
• Communicate with parents/guardians and staff regularly
• Foster a safe, predictable classroom culture
