Job summary
KIPP North Carolina is seeking a dedicated EC Self-Contained Autism Teacher (K-5) to lead structured instruction for students with autism. You will collaborate with related service providers to embed communication systems and life skills within daily routines, while maintaining thorough IEP documentation and family communication.
The role emphasizes structured teaching strategies (TEACCH, ABA, visual schedules) and evidence-based practices to foster independence and social-emotional development
Qualifications
- Active North Carolina EC Certification or reciprocity eligibility.
- Experience teaching students with autism, preferably in a self-contained setting.
- Knowledge of TEACCH, ABA, discrete trial training, social narratives, task analysis.
- Criminal background check clearance and adherence to safety protocols.
- Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap and serving diverse communities.
Responsibilities
- Provide SDI to K-5 students with autism in a self-contained classroom.
- Implement structured teaching approaches to support engagement and independence.
- Collaborate with speech, OT/PT, behavior specialists, and IEP teams.
- Maintain accurate IEP documentation and progress monitoring per IDEA/state rules.
- Communicate regularly with families and school teams regarding student progress.
- Support a predictable, safe classroom culture and positive reinforcement systems.
